Superintendent Message

As we are rapidly approaching Spring Break, it is good to reflect on a remarkable winter in Madison 321. As Superintendent, first and foremost I have appreciated the mild winter and not having to make those painful decisions of whether or not to close schools due to dangerous cold or hazardous driving conditions at 5:00 a.m.
In Idaho, we are never out of the woods until July, but with January, February and March behind us, I am breathing a bit easier.
Though sporadic, we have been blessed with a judicious amount of moisture which will be beneficial for crops this summer and fall. Like many of you, I am eagerly awaiting the approaching warmer temperatures of springtime and summer.
Madison has amazing students and teachers! Our teams have been highly successful in many academic and extracurricular areas this winter.
I would like to congratulate the MHS Robotic team for winning the regional competition held at Utah State University beating out 28 teams to take first place and qualify for nationals. It is rewarding to witness creativity, teamwork and hard work all coming together.
In a regional competition held at BYUI, our MHS Math team won the first six places in Pre-Calculus and had the top three students in the Calculus competition. Congratulations to the students and their advisors for this great accomplishment!
Our MHS speech and debate team qualified 8 young people to go to nationals which is an amazing accomplishment. Speech and debate require many hours of research and intense practice in order to be successful and the commitment of these students really came through.
We had two wrestlers who won state championships; Richard Anau and Chase Green both represented our school and community very well taking first place in their respective weight divisions. Wrestling is a very demanding sport and everyone is proud of their hard work.
The varsity girls’ basketball team overcame injuries to key players and won the Idaho Consolation championship and the Sportsmanship award. Winning the Sportsmanship award makes me very proud as it is a positive reflection on everyone involved: the team, coaches, band, cheerleaders, fans, parents, etc…Our boys’ varsity basketball team enjoyed an excellent season and took second place in the state championships.
The MHS cheerleaders took home first place in national competition held in California. Cheerleading takes tremendous work and energy. It is a yearlong commitment and I would like to congratulate the team and their advisor.
I am pleased with the hard work and effort of the young people in each of the abovementioned sports and activities. The coaches and advisors with each of the teams spent considerable amounts of time directing and guiding the students. I appreciate the care and commitment they demonstrate.

What makes Madison the finest school district in Idaho? It is our remarkable students and their incredible teachers, coaches and advisors. Thank you everyone!
